Leadership Lessons Behind Gorilla Exterior Co’s Fast Growth

Logan Judiscak launched Gorilla Exterior Co in 2023 and quickly built it into a multimillion-dollar roofing business. His approach offers practical lessons any contractor can apply.
Just one year after officially opening its doors, Gorilla Exterior Co’s revenue doubled to more than two million dollars. That growth is impressive, and for Judiscak it all starts with creating an aligned team.
This approach offers practical lessons for contractors in building a strong business. Here’s how Judiscak made it happen.
Understand Employee Goals Beyond Work
One aspect of effective leadership lies in understanding what matters to employees outside of the job, Judiscak believes. He makes a point to ask team members about more than sales results, and weekly check-ins often include conversations about paying off debt, family needs, or personal goals.
He also knows that not every role fits every person and has gone so far as to support employees in finding other work. “Through connections I have, I’ve tried to help people get a job elsewhere that makes more sense for them,” he says. That kind of care builds a culture where people feel supported even if they move on.
Hold Weekly Goal-Oriented Meetings
Consistency is one of the pillars of Judiscak’s leadership. He holds weekly meetings with his five sales reps and focuses on setting clear goals.
If a rep falls short, the meeting becomes a chance to solve problems together. Judiscak describes it as “reverse engineering the process” by breaking big goals into smaller, achievable steps.
Use Technology to Its Best Advantage
Judiscak knows that the right technology is key to the success of any business. Platforms like JobTread give his team the tools they need to sell more effectively and keep projects running smoothly.
Technology also reduces the need for micromanagement. With JobTread, Judiscak can see where projects stand at any moment without hovering over his sales reps. “It’s been great to look at your prospects and really understand the status. Before JobTread, we were using Acculynx, and Trello…but now we don’t have to double enter. Now we just sign into JobTread and know exactly where we are at.”
Lead by Example
By modeling fairness and hard work, Judiscak earns the trust of his team, an example that sets the tone for the business. “Logan’s not in a boss role,” says Jordan Fisher, a sales rep with the company. “I think of it more as leadership. And there’s nothing he’d ask me to do that he wouldn’t do himself.”
Build Sustainable Growth
Judiscak’s goal is to maintain growth in a strategic way. Currently, the company relies on storm work for 80% of its revenue, and one initiative is to grow the retail side to make the company less dependent on weather events. “We want to continue to double, but in a sustainable way,” he says.
The story of Gorilla Exterior Co shows how creating a strong culture with the right processes can drive results as much as sales skills or storm events.
