On January 11, 2023, over 200 general contractors, home builders, remodelers, pool builders, deck builders, and more gathered in Richardson, Texas for the first-ever JobTread Connect.

JobTread Connect, an exclusive 3-day conference, was created to give JobTread users a chance to learn, network, and connect in-person with JobTread staff, industry experts, and peers.

Day One

On the first day, JobTread hosted attendees at their headquarters for a networking and a behind-the-scenes tour. Users were also invited to meet the JobTread developers and brainstorm future feature requests to continue improving the platform. The evening concluded with a Welcome Party sponsored by Extreme Backyard & Beyond.

“JobTread Connect was great for me. I came looking for 3 or 4 different things that I can implement when I go home and that will raise the bar and we can go from there.”

Day Two

On day two, JobTread Founder & CEO, Eric Fortenberry, kicked off the conference by talking about the history of JobTread, introducing staff to attendees, and thanking sponsors who helped make the event possible. Next, Erika Mosse, Director of Content at ProRemodeler Magazine, took the stage to discuss building a stronger team and how to be a company leader. Her presentation was followed by Karalynn Cromeens, owner of The Cromeens Law Firm, who spoke about why every construction job needs a legal contract.

The morning’s educational breakout sessions focused on learning the basics of JobTread, job costing to guarantee profitability, and leveraging online payments to improve your AR and cash flow.

After lunch, keynote speaker, Tom Reber, Founder of The Contractor Fight, took the stage to inspire all attendees to find their edge by “Winning the Moments”.

The afternoon included two more rounds of educational breakout sessions on topics such as estimating, transitioning to JobTread, best practices to improve efficiency, JobTread implementation, homeowner financing with Acorn Finance, and how to build your cost catalog.

After a networking happy hour sponsored by Groundwork and industry roundtable discussions, all attendees headed over to a nearby bowling alley for a night of “Bowling, Booze, and Billiards” sponsored by Visa.

On the final conference day, attendees first heard from a panel of JobTread Pros on how they define success and leverage JobTread to maximize their business potential. After, Logan Shinholser, Owner & CEO of the Contractor Growth Network, spoke about using your unique story to stand out and land your ideal client.

Attendees were then able to attend two more rounds of educational breakout sessions on topics such as, managing the relationship pipeline, managing subcontractors, JobTread integrations, accounting 101, managing labor costs to achieve target profits, and project management tools.

“I’m so thankful to be here at Connect. I think this is a great conference to come to because you are able to talk to other people in the industry, you can get one-on-one training if you need it, and find out new ways to grow your business. It allows you to think about your business in a different way and really hone in on making your business better.”

Cortni Byrd, Jacob’s Ladder

Day Three

After lunch, attendees heard the “Secrets of Building a Business that Runs Itself” from Chris and Amy Breen, founders of Legacy Decks Academy. They shared their unique hiring strategy, why it’s important to empower employees, and the keys to reducing employee turnover.

More educational breakout sessions were available for attendees and then the conference concluded with the JobTread Product Development Keynote (can link this once it’s posted). Eric Fortenberry talked about the recent improvements to the JobTread platform to continually deliver on what customers want and what we can expect for new developments in the coming month and year.

“I would recommend JobTread Connect because it’s not everyday that you get to be around people in similar businesses that are open to communicating about how they operate their business and what would make that business better. It has always been a secret community of contractors that do not talk and at Connect we have already networked with 10-20 contractors that are discussing their costs, their breakdowns, and how they track their business. Being able to collaborate with them in a place like this takes away the risk of ‘their my competition’.”
