Building The New Standard: JobTread’s Five-Year Rise Toward 10,000 Construction Companies

Dallas, TX | February 2026
Five years after launching at the International Builders’ Show (IBS) with just six employees and a single estimating tool, JobTread returns to IBS 2026 poised to surpass 10,000 construction companies running on its comprehensive platform.
What started in 2021 as a narrowly focused budgeting tool has grown into a full construction management system with more than a million total users including builders, remodelers, roofers, specialty contractors and trade partners across the globe.
From the beginning, Founder and CEO Eric Fortenberry set out to build a new standard for managing construction projects. That mission was shaped by personal experience.
Before launching JobTread, Fortenberry built a technology company, sold it to a private equity group, and was later removed from the business he created. Shortly afterward, he stepped in as leader of a struggling construction company and saw firsthand how the lack of strong job costing and clear systems greatly undermined profitability.
“They didn’t know their numbers,” Fortenberry said. “Margins weren’t clear. Processes were inconsistent. The business was reacting instead of operating with control.”
That experience exposed a gap in the industry which ultimately led to the creation of JobTread and spurred its explosive growth. Five years into the journey, the company has scaled from six team members to 65, and built a full-scale construction operating system. Yet unlike many fast-growing software companies, JobTread remains founder-led and operates without private equity investment.
“Our goal is to serve the industry,” Fortenberry said. “Every improvement starts with listening to contractors and responding to their requests.”
Today, JobTread features a cost catalogue, scheduling tool, custom dashboards, material takeoffs, communication portal, workflow automation, and a long list of other new features. The platform directly integrates with dozens of partners, including QuickBooks Online, The Home Depot, and SRS Distribution, allowing contractors to move seamlessly between tasks without re-entering data.
“Construction deserves better systems at an affordable price,” Fortenberry said. “When contractors can operate with clarity, everything changes. That is the standard we are building.”
